Giving to The Royce School
Ways to Give
Every way to support Royce, in one place. Give online, redirect your Georgia taxes, pledge over time, or give your hands and your hours.
We are a school of just over 100 students. That is exactly why your gift is visible.
Where Your Gift Goes
What Tuition Does Not Cover
Tuition covers the core of a Royce education. It does not cover everything a neurodiverse learner needs, and it never fully covers the cost of teaching a child in a class small enough for that teaching to work. Giving closes the gap.
Access
Tuition assistance so that a family who needs Royce is not turned away by cost. For many of our families, Royce follows years of a child struggling somewhere else. Financial aid is the difference between finding us and being able to come.
Teaching
Faculty training and the materials that training requires. Every Royce teacher is trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach and Marilyn Zecher Multisensory Math. That certification is not free, it does not happen once, and it is the reason our classrooms work.
Everything Around It
Assistive technology, therapy and support services, athletics, clubs, the arts, and the outdoor spaces where a lot of the real work of school actually happens. These are the parts of a day that make a child want to come back tomorrow.

The Royce Annual Fund
If you are deciding where to give and you would like the school to put your gift where it is needed most this year, give to the Annual Fund. It is unrestricted, which means it can be spent on the need in front of us rather than the need we predicted twelve months ago.
Gifts of every size count, and participation matters as much as the amount. Foundations and corporate funders routinely ask what percentage of our families and board give. A small gift from everyone tells a better story than a large gift from a few.
Georgia Taxpayers
Redirect Your State Taxes to Royce
Georgia’s Qualified Education Expense tax credit lets you send a portion of the state income tax you already owe to Royce instead of to Atlanta. Royce participates through Apogee Scholarship Fund. The money becomes tuition scholarships for our students.
This is the single most overlooked way to support Royce. For most participants it is close to cost-neutral: you receive a dollar-for-dollar Georgia tax credit for what you contribute, up to the limit set for your filing status. It costs you paperwork, not income.
Contribution limits, filing categories, and the application window are set by the State of Georgia and change from year to year. The statewide cap is claimed quickly, often within days of opening, so applying early matters. Apogee handles the application to the Georgia Department of Revenue on your behalf. Royce is not a tax advisor, and we would encourage you to confirm the details with yours.

Other Ways to Give
Pledge Over Time
A pledge lets you commit now and pay across the year or across several years. Many donors find they can give meaningfully more this way than in a single check. Make a pledge.
Matching Gifts
Many employers match employee charitable gifts, often dollar for dollar. It usually takes one form through your HR portal, and it can double your gift at no additional cost to you. Ask us if you are not sure whether your employer participates.
Stock and Donor-Advised Funds
Gifts of appreciated securities and recommendations from a donor-advised fund are welcome and are often more tax-efficient than giving cash. Contact us and we will send transfer instructions the same week.
Gifts From Your IRA
If you are of qualifying age, a distribution made directly from your IRA to Royce can satisfy part of your required minimum distribution while supporting the school. Your plan administrator and tax advisor can confirm the current rules.
Include Royce in Your Plans
A bequest in your will, or naming Royce as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy, costs nothing today and can be the largest gift a person ever makes. If you have already done this, please tell us so we can thank you.
Time, Goods, and Expertise
In-kind gifts, professional services, event support, and volunteer hours are real support and we treat them that way. Most of it runs through the Parent Association, and you do not have to be a current parent to help.
A Small School Is a Different Kind of Investment
Royce serves just over 100 students. At a school of two thousand, a gift disappears into a budget line. Here, it is a reading specialist’s certification, a set of assistive technology licenses, or the reason one family got a tuition award and stayed.
We are growing deliberately rather than quickly, and we would rather tell you exactly what your gift did than promise you something sweeping. If you ever want to know where your money went, ask us and we will tell you plainly.
Thank You
Our Supporters
Royce is held up by families, alumni families, grandparents, local businesses, foundations, and neighbors who have never had a child here. We recognize them by name, and we would like to add yours.
Questions About Giving
- Is my gift tax-deductible? The Royce School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and gifts are deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a written acknowledgment for your records.
- Can I direct my gift to something specific? Yes. Tell us what matters to you and we will talk honestly about whether we can put it to work well. Unrestricted gifts are the most useful, but a restricted gift you are excited about beats no gift at all.
- Can I give anonymously? Yes. Just tell us, and your name will not appear in any published list.
- Can I give by check? Yes. Checks can be mailed to the school and made payable to The Royce School.
- I want to talk to a person first. Good. That is usually the better conversation anyway.
Give Hope. Give Belonging. Give Opportunity.
Every gift to Royce is a vote of confidence in a child who has been underestimated before.
