About The Royce School
Mission, Vision & Values
Who we are, what we believe, and where we are going.
At The Royce School, everything we do is guided by a clear purpose and an ambitious vision for the future.
A Deeper Look
Who We Are
The Royce School is dedicated to empowering neurodiverse students through specialized instructional approaches tailored to their unique needs.

Our Students
Bright, capable learners who need more explicit, structured, or multisensory teaching than what typical classrooms provide. Students with ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum profiles, anxiety-related learning needs, and language-based or processing challenges.

Our Approach
Brain-based instruction that begins with each child’s mind – how it processes, how it remembers, how it understands. All faculty are trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach and Marilyn Zecher Multisensory Math. Diagnostic teaching assesses student output to guide what comes next.

Our Outcomes
20-30% of students successfully return to traditional school settings. High school students are eligible for the HOPE Scholarship. Juniors and Seniors can participate in dual enrollment with Georgia Southern, Savannah Tech, and Middle Georgia College.
Our Mission
The Royce School engages and empowers neurodiverse students to embrace their strengths and thrive in all areas of life.
The Royce School exists to provide adaptive, research-driven instruction that meets neurodiverse learners exactly where they are and supports them in where they’re going. Our mission is to teach students – including those with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and other learning profiles – through personalized, brain-based approaches that honor how their minds work.
We help students build strong academic foundations, develop essential self-management and self-advocacy skills, and grow into confident, independent young people. At Royce, every learner is understood, celebrated, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally – both in school and in life.
Our Vision
Royce envisions a future where neurodiverse learners are understood, celebrated, and equipped to achieve beyond expectations through individualized, brain-based education.
Royce envisions a future where specialized, brain-based education sets a new standard for what neurodiverse learners can achieve. We strive to be the region’s leading model for individualized instruction – one that understands how each student’s mind works, celebrates their strengths, and ensures no child is ever overlooked or misunderstood.
By redefining what’s possible for students with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and other forms of neurodiversity, we aim to empower every learner today and reshape expectations for generations to come.
What We Believe
Our Values
Our mission describes what we do. Our vision describes where we are going. These are the commitments that govern how we get there – the same standards we ask of our students, held first by the adults who teach them.
High Expectations
We believe every neurodiverse learner is capable of more than they have been told. High expectations are not pressure here, they are a form of respect. We hold ourselves to the same standard we hold our students, and we build the support that makes meeting it possible.
Understanding Before Instruction
We start by understanding how a child processes, remembers, and thinks, then we teach from there. No student at Royce is asked to fit a method that was not designed for the way their mind actually works.
Respect for Every Mind
Difference is the premise of this school, not an exception it manages. We treat every student, family, and colleague with respect, and we get better as a community when we take seriously the experiences and perspectives that are not our own.
Honesty
We are straight with students about where they stand and what comes next, and straight with families about what we see. We do not overstate progress or soften a hard truth into something unusable. We expect the same honesty in return.
Kindness, Inward and Outward
Many of our students arrive having been hard on themselves for years. We model kindness in both directions, because confidence and self-advocacy cannot grow in a child who has learned to expect the worst of themselves.
Independence as the Goal
Everything we build here is meant to be handed over. We teach students how their own minds work so that one day they can do this without us. The measure of our success is a learner who no longer needs the scaffolding.
In Our Students’ Words
We hold ourselves to high expectations.
- We understand other people matter and should be treated with respect.
- We strive for honesty and do not lie, cheat, or steal.
- We improve as individuals when we embrace others with different experiences and perspectives.
- We treat everyone with kindness, including ourselves.
- We understand our individual actions reflect upon our school and our community.
Strategic Plan 2025-2027
More Than a Roadmap
At Royce, our Strategic Plan is more than a roadmap – it’s a commitment to students, families, educators, and the wider community. Over the next three years, we are focused on six priorities that strengthen our mission and expand opportunities for neurodiverse learners. This plan is shaped by families, educators, clinical partners, and community supporters who believe in what Royce can become.
Building Royce’s Future
Six Strategic Priorities
Priority 1
Financial Stability
We are building a strong foundation to sustain our work. This includes expanding fundraising, growing enrollment, and developing summer and tutoring programs that support both students and the school’s long-term health.
Priority 2
Community Awareness
Royce is reintroducing itself with a bold rebrand and clearer communication. We will highlight our K-12 curriculum, share student and alumni success stories, expand co-curricular opportunities in arts and athletics, and strengthen outreach so families, providers, and partner schools understand the full scope of our programs.
Priority 3
Improved Facilities
Our campus must reflect the excellence of our mission. We are creating a Facilities Master Plan to guide long-term improvements, budgeting annually for maintenance, and investing in technology updates to ensure students and staff have the tools they need.
Priority 4
Engaged Governance
Strong leadership ensures our mission endures. We are recruiting and orienting new trustees with diverse expertise, providing ongoing training and evaluation, and aligning Board committees with strategic goals to ensure accountability and impact.
Priority 5
Staff Development
Our teachers and staff are the heart of Royce. We are investing in competitive compensation, professional development in best practices like Multisensory Math and Orton-Gillingham, and partnerships that expand project-based and off-campus learning opportunities.
Priority 6
Community & Parent Engagement
We are building a welcoming, supportive community where parents, alumni, providers, and partner schools feel deeply engaged in our mission. Through strong associations, clear resources, and regular celebrations of student and alumni success, we will nurture lasting relationships and a culture of belonging.
How to Take Part
Where You Come In
Every priority in this plan depends on people outside this building. Here is where help matters most.
Give
Financial stability and improved facilities move at the speed of philanthropy. Annual fund gifts, capital support, and planned giving all count directly toward this plan.
Serve
We are actively recruiting trustees with expertise in finance, facilities, law, and healthcare, and parents willing to take on leadership inside the Parent Association.
Refer
The fastest path to enrollment stability is a parent or provider who tells the right family about Royce. If you know a student who needs us, send them our way.
