Dismissal and Pick-Up Policy

Regular Dismissal Days

  • Students must be picked up promptly at the official dismissal time
  • Students not picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal will be sent to After School Care, and families will be charged the $20 drop-in fee
  • Late pick-ups beyond the After School Care grace period will incur a fee of $10 per minute, beginning at the scheduled pick-up time

Early Dismissal & Special Event Days

  • On days with early dismissal or special events (performances, parent-teacher conferences, etc.), students must be picked up immediately at the published dismissal time
  • Late pick-ups will incur a fee of $10 per minute, beginning at the scheduled pick-up time

Why This Matters: Timely pick-up ensures adequate staffing and supervision for all students. We understand that occasional delays happen—please call the front office if you’re running late so we can ensure your child’s care and safety.

Questions? Contact the school office if you have questions about dismissal times or need to arrange alternative pick-up arrangements.

Campus Safety

At The Royce School, the well-being of our students, staff, and visitors is our highest priority. We maintain a secure, welcoming environment through vigilant safety protocols, regular drills, and close collaboration with local emergency services. Our campus is designed to be both nurturing and protected, ensuring that every learner can thrive with peace of mind.

We love welcoming parents into our school community. To ensure a safe and secure environment, all parent visits must be scheduled in advance and approved by the administration. Parents wishing to join their child for lunch, visit a classroom, or observe learning should contact the school office to arrange an appointment. Please allow up to two days for scheduling and approval.

All visitors are required to sign in upon arrival and wear school-issued identification while on campus. Keeping our doors secured and carefully monitoring visitors helps us protect the safety and well-being of every student and staff member.

Carpool Drop-Off & Pick-Up Guide

For the safety of our students, drivers may not pass other vehicles in the car pick-up line. Passing is only permitted when a staff member is present and signals you through. This procedure ensures that all students remain safe as they move through the parking lot.

To ensure the safety of our students, employees, and parents, and to maintain an efficient carpool process, please follow these important guidelines:

Traffic Flow

  • Enter the carpool line from Hodgson Memorial Drive
  • Exit onto Mall Boulevard
  • Do not enter from Mall Boulevard – vehicles entering from the wrong direction will be redirected to join the line from Hodgson Memorial Drive

Carpool Line Procedures

Keep Traffic Moving:

  • Pull forward to the front of the carpool line to maximize efficiency
  • Close gaps between vehicles—large spaces cause traffic to back up onto Oglethorpe Professional Boulevard and create safety hazards
  • When staff directs you to move your vehicle forward, please do so promptly

Follow Staff Instructions:

  • Staff members will guide you through the carpool line—please follow their directions
  • Do not pass other vehicles unless explicitly instructed to do so by school personnel
  • Do not park or exit your vehicle in the carpool line unless directed by staff

Running Late? If you’re in a hurry, notify a staff member, and we’ll do our best to move you through the line safely and quickly.

Safety First

These procedures help us minimize congestion, speed up drop-off and pick-up times, and -most importantly – keep our students safe. Thank you for your cooperation and patience!

Questions? Contact the front office for clarification on carpool procedures.

Dress Code and Uniforms

At The Royce School, we maintain a simple, practical uniform policy to promote a focused learning environment, minimize distractions, and foster a sense of belonging and school pride. Our uniform guidelines help students feel confident and ready to learn while allowing families an affordable and straightforward approach to daily dressing.

Why Uniforms? Uniforms create an equitable environment where all students can focus on learning rather than clothing choices. They simplify morning routines for families, reduce peer pressure around fashion, and strengthen our sense of community and school identity.

Dress Code Summary: Students need to follow the dress code each day. Students must be neat and clean and have outerwear that aligns with our dress code.

On very cold days, we will allow students to wear non-uniform outerwear only outside, and not tied around their waists.

As your student grows through the school year, please check to ensure skirts/shorts are 2 inches above the knee (including dress-down days) and that pants are not too short.

Dress Down Fridays

Students can participate in Dress Down Fridays for just $1 each week. All funds raised go directly toward student events and activities, helping us create fun and memorable experiences throughout the year.

Where to buy Uniforms

Royce Uniforms can be purchased from Land’s End or locally at Bahama Joe’s:

Cell Phone and Communication Device Policy

To maintain a focused learning environment and minimize distractions, students at The Royce School are not permitted to use cell phones, smartwatches, or similar communication devices during school hours, including break times, lunch, and transitions between classes.

Daily Procedures:

  • All communication devices must be powered off and turned in at the front desk upon arrival each morning
  • Devices may be retrieved from the front desk at dismissal as students leave for the day

Policy Violations: If a student is found with a communication device during the school day, the following steps will be taken:

  • The student must immediately surrender the device to a staff member
  • The device will be secured in the Head of School’s office
  • The standard discipline policy outlined in the student handbook will be followed, including consequences for repeated violations

Questions or Concerns? We understand that families may have questions about staying in touch during the school day. Please contact the front office if you need to reach your child—our staff is always available to facilitate urgent communication.

This policy helps ensure that students remain engaged, present, and focused on learning throughout their day at Royce.
