  • Partner Spotlight: Front Porch Improv Acts & The Royce Rising Voices Theater Club

    A Stage for Every Voice

At The Royce School, the Rising Voices Theater Club is more than an extracurricular—it’s a place where students discover confidence, creativity, and community. For many of our neurodiverse learners, public speaking and performance can feel intimidating. Theater offers a safe, supportive space to step outside their comfort zones, amplify their voices, and celebrate their individuality.

    The Power of Partnership

This mission is strengthened by our collaboration with Front Porch Improv Acts, a Savannah‑based organization dedicated to bringing the joy of improvisation to all ages. Their teaching artists work alongside Royce students, guiding them through workshops that spark imagination, build teamwork, and encourage bold self‑expression. With improv, students learn that mistakes can become opportunities, and that laughter is one of the most powerful tools for connection.

    Creativity Meets Community

Together, Rising Voices and Front Porch Improv Acts create experiences that go beyond the stage. Students not only gain theater skills, but also resilience, confidence, and the ability to share their stories with pride. Families and teachers see firsthand how these performances help students grow—transforming nerves into applause and challenges into strengths.

    Why It Matters

The partnership reminds us that theater is not just about scripts and costumes—it’s about belonging. By combining Royce’s commitment to inclusion with Front Porch’s expertise in improv, we ensure that every student has the chance to shine.

At Royce, every spotlight is a celebration of courage, creativity, and community—and we’re grateful to Front Porch Improv Acts for helping our students step into it.

  • Celebrating Grandparents Day at Royce

    Honoring Family Connections

This year, The Royce School welcomed grandparents from near and far to celebrate Grandparents Day a little early. The school hosted a special lunch to honor the remarkable role grandparents play in our students’ lives, highlighting the importance of family connections, community, and inter-generational support.

A Day of Joy and Connection

Grandparents had the opportunity to connect with teachers, meet other families, and celebrate their grandchildren’s achievements in a meaningful way. The event was filled with warmth, laughter, and pride as students shared their school experiences with the people who cheer them on every step of the way.

    Gratitude for Lasting Impact

The Royce School is deeply grateful to all the grandparents who joined us for this memorable day. Your presence, encouragement, and love make a lasting impact on our students and our school community. Grandparents Day reminds us that education and family are strongest when celebrated together.

  • Wrapping Up Success: Royce Gift Wrap Fundraiser

    A Season of Giving

The holiday season is a time for generosity, and this year, Royce students put that spirit into action with a successful gift wrap fundraiser supporting the school’s annual Holiday Extravaganza.

    How It Worked

Students brought home flyers explaining the fundraiser, inviting parents and families to participate. Through their efforts, the community rallied together to raise essential funds that will bring the Extravaganza to life—covering costumes, decorations, props, and stage setup.

    The Results

Thanks to the dedication of our students and the generosity of families, we raised $1,357.20 for the Holiday Extravaganza! This incredible support ensures the event will be festive, memorable, and full of joy for the entire school community.

    More Than Just Fundraising

The gift wrap fundraiser is a wonderful reminder that small contributions can have a big impact. It shows how our Royce community comes together not only to celebrate the season, but to support one another in creating experiences that shine.

  • Friendsgiving at Royce: A Celebration of Community and Gratitude

    Giving Thanks Together

As Thanksgiving approaches, The Royce School pauses to give thanks for the people who make our community so special. Friendsgiving—a celebration of appreciation and love for those who feel like family—has quickly become one of our favorite traditions. Unlike traditional Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving highlights the chosen loved ones we gather throughout our lives. With busy schedules and the holiday season approaching, this evening offers a chance to slow down, share a meal, and appreciate the people who make school a little less stressful and a lot more joyful.

A Feast of Laughter and Connection

This year, the student body celebrated Friendsgiving with the same joy as years past, filling the day with good food, laughter, and a strong sense of community. Parents generously contributed a wide variety of dishes—from apple pie to pizza—ensuring there was more than enough for everyone. Upperclassmen pitched in as well, helping organize and keep the celebration running smoothly.

    Lower School Highlights

The lower school celebration was especially heartwarming. Students memorized and performed a beautiful poem about gratitude, sharing their voices with teachers, peers, and families. After plates piled high with mac and cheese, green beans, and the always‑beloved Hawaiian rolls, students visited the Thanksgiving photo booth to capture happy moments with classmates. The rest of the day was filled with movies, desserts, and laughter as the school prepared for the upcoming holiday break.

    What Friendsgiving Means to Royce

As the celebration came to a close, what stood out most was the sense of support that surrounds every student at The Royce School. Friendsgiving reminded us that our community is built not just on classrooms and lessons, but on people who show up for one another. We are especially grateful to the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to prepare food, attend the celebration, and share in the joy of the day.

At Royce, Friendsgiving is more than a meal—it’s a reminder of the warmth, support, and connection that define our school. We are deeply appreciative of every member of our community—students, parents, teachers, and staff—who help make Royce a place where gratitude and belonging shine.

  • Spooky Fun at Royce: Trunk or Treat 2025

    A Parade of Costumes

This year’s Trunk or Treat was one of the most memorable events of the year. The day began with a festive costume parade during drop‑off, setting the tone for excitement and creativity. From skeletons to K‑pop demon hunters, students proudly showed off their imaginative costumes and their enthusiasm for the celebration ahead.

    Treats, Activities, and Community Spirit

The event featured an incredible lineup of food and fun: hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, hot chocolate, and of course, plenty of candy. Students made their way from trunk to trunk, exploring themes that ranged from aliens and ghosts to an inventive mini‑golf course. Our first‑ever photo booth captured costumes and friendships, while trunk hosts went all out with decorations that were spooky, clever, and “scary good.”

    Music and Games

After the candy was gone, Royce teacher Cedric Beamon kept the spooky vibes alive as the official Trunk or Treat DJ. Music filled the air while students enjoyed games like tug‑of‑war and flag football, adding even more energy to the celebration.

    A Community Effort

None of this would have been possible without the incredible efforts of Jamie Montgomery and the Royce Parent Association. From coordinating trunk hosts and volunteers to overseeing the day’s schedule, their dedication ensured every detail ran smoothly. Thanks to their hard work and creativity, students, parents, and staff came together to enjoy a fun, safe, and memorable Trunk or Treat.

  • Spirit Week at Royce: Small School, Big Pride

    Celebrating Community with Heart

Nothing screams “school spirit” like a student body coming together to celebrate pride in their school in unique ways. Spirit Week at The Royce School may not be the biggest event on a giant campus, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. As a small school, our community is tight‑knit, and when we celebrate, we do it with heart, humor, and a whole lot of personality.

    Creativity in Every Theme

This year’s Spirit Week highlighted both community and individuality. Students showed up in fresh looks every day—from the classic PJ Day to Holidaze, where they dressed as if it were their favorite holiday. The energy was undeniable from the moment Monday arrived, with students committing to each theme with full force and enthusiasm. Even teachers joined in, proving that school spirit doesn’t stop after graduation.

    A Parade of Personality

One of the best parts of attending a small school is how visible and connected we all are. Spirit Week isn’t confined to a single classroom—it’s everywhere, all at once. Walking through the halls felt like stepping into a parade of creativity, where everyone knew each other’s costumes, inside jokes, and personal touches.

    Why Spirit Week Matters

We may not have thousands of students, but we have something better: a community where everyone participates because everyone matters. Spirit Week at Royce is more than themed outfits—it’s a celebration of belonging, individuality, and the joy of being part of a school where every voice shines.
